**The MC and MCN: Oh, the fun we're having...
Well, I had a story to add, completely typed. Added it. Didn't show. Fiddled some more, glitched it up to losing all of the stories up to the Cube Club, such as the PSO PC story. I have backups of some, but not all, I'll post the three most recent backups below.

But that's getting sidetracked. Suddenly, I made a connection, and FTPed and tried to upload a 200k WAV. Guess what error I ran into again? :D Yep, for the third blasted time in a short period, "No Space Left on Device". So apparently Liquidweb was hoping I would never update much again, you think they would've figured it out the second time. It was apparently so tight that Newspro was trying to write the stories, running out of space, and then trying to patch up what it could. I can't update my booth right now if I _wanted_, and I planned to put up the final update tonight. I mean, the news database is a 500k file, which gets a few k added on to it with each writing. It didn't even have enough space to rewrite the old DB and include the new stories, that's how tight the server I'm on is. I bought 500 meg, I didn't just buy a pretty number, I'm not even using a FOURTH of it. Yet they've got me on the server where the space is so tight I can't update a damn 500k news database with an extra K or so?

If Cloudchaser's watching my site to gauge how much I update, I am SERIOUSLY pissed at Liquidweb. Granted, I don't think I have much of a chance on that, I figure it's already a lock, but if it isn't, having the last news story sit in Sept. 10th doesn't look as good.

Could somebody bump or point me to that list of host suggestions TL had? I never seem to have any good luck if I pick them out myself.

Here's the new news story, followed by the three most recent backed up:

Subject: 2 Rumors, 1 Delay, and a Dolphin

Even though I organized it that way for the alliteration, let's just get the delay out of the way, the American launch of Pikmin has been kicked back from late November to what's come to be known as "launch day part 2", December 3rd, where it'll share the ranks with Smash Bros. Melee and Eternal Darkness. Hm, an E, a T, and an M, all on the same day from Nintendo, you've gotta give them credit for variety this time. The Japanese version has not yet received a similar announcement still set for August 26th. So this delay is probably to help remove any large flowers from the American version that might remind people of the twin towers. (Please don't hurt me.)

Speaking of release dates, we know Biohazard's coming, but guess what Capcom game's rumored for a December 17th American release? Several sites (such as Nintendojo) have been stating the rumors that Capcom plans to port over Capcom vs. SNK 2... but claim it will actually be called Capcom vs. SNK _3_! Considering there is only a month's difference between the American PS2 launch of CvsS2 and the American GC launch of CvsS3 (yes, this is news for America), it seems strange Capcom would adhere to such a naming system, although the original reporters claim the "3" is not a typo. Gamestop's even mocked up (repeat, mocked up) box art for it and added it to the list, but it might be premature. Then again, Capcom of America's already likely emasculating the netplay from the PS2 version, so once that's gone, that would make it an easier port, but I'd definately file this one as very suspicious.

Since we're already in the realm of suspicion, let's just go all-out fantasy... Final Fantasy, that is. Many many many sites have reported the rampant rumors, most likely inspired by the latest Capcom deal, Nintendo's been on a spending spree, and not only slipped Capcom a little, but they're planning to plunk, per the rumor, in the upwards of 3 billion Yen (about 25 million dollars) to get Square to seriously commit the console. (In all fairness, though, at least 1 Billion of those yen goes to hunting down and destroying Yamauchi the cyborg.) Sounds like random rumors around all the time? Well, there's just ONE small catch to all this... the info was posted by Game Front. These guys have cracked some key stories in the past, including the Gamecube logo. It's not just random guessing, they're usually more hit than miss. As to actually what titles are supposed to be announced? Rumors are all over the place (including some suggesting that FF IX will be a GC exclusive, so why they're spending millions to help Sony co-develop PlayOnline, I don't know... ;P), but someone smartly reminded people of the Final Fantasy 7/8/9 remakes Square is already doing, those would make great ports to GC... September 24th is the most widely rumored date for this suggested conference, so expect to see a lot of disappointed Square on GC fans September 25th. (Even though the Japanese day is much earlier than the US's, so we'll already know BY September 24th, most likely. ;>) Either that, or a lot of people wondering which car truck they shoved Yamauchi in and how long it will hold him.

Oh, the "Dolphin" part of the strapline? Planet Gamecube has pointed out that Video Senki has posted a translated interview with Satoru Iwata (creator of Kirby and Mother 2), you can read it here. It also helps explain why the development name for the Gamecube was "Dolphin", remember, the Gekko chip is spelled G-e-k-k-o, not G-e-c-k-o, it's Japanese for "Moonlight", not a reference to the animal...

On one last note, this is likely to be quite old news, but Leo reminded me of this, the Kirby animated series set to debut in Japan has a website, you can check it out at http://www.hicbc.com/tv/kirby/ . It's a lot of Flash, so there's going to be large parts that won't be webpage translatable, but there's some pretty pictures you can stare at. And that's what matters most in life. ^_^

Subject: Namco Announces 3 More for GC

(This article was removed and readded in the hopes of fixing a glitch currently occuring with the news script. It was posted originally on September 27th.)

I could quote either Planet Gamecube or Nintendojo, but both say the same thing. According to Next-Gen magazine, Namco's announced three new games that are GC-bound. The three games are: a futuristic arcade racer called "Smashing Drive", the Xbox title "Dead to Rights" (there'll be a three month wait because of an exclusivity period deal with Microsoft, however), and... get this... an enhanced version of Klonoa 2: Lunatea's Veil!

If you've been reading my MCN articles, you know this is a port I've been hoping for, and it'll supposedly be enhanced too, niiiiiice. ^_^

Now, Namco, about Time Crisis 2... ;D

Subject: Shocking RE1, heck, RE News! [Edit]

I considered editing the original article, but I decided it would be best to start fresh. According to this big, big news reported by Planet Gamecube, Capcom of Japan has just recently held the "Biostrategy" press conference (Biohazard/Biostrategy, get it?), there's apparently a VIDEO of the new RE1 for Gamecube at Capcom of Japan's website.

Hold on to your socks, this gets bigger.

Directly quoting Planet Gamecube: "Moreover, it seems the Resident Evil franchise is now exclusive to Nintendo and GameCube."

*blink*

*blink*

*twitch*

Remember my Miyamoto crack I wrote not a half hour ago? "Another interesting note, Shigeru Miyamoto apparently took the stage as part of the announcement!"

*blink*

*blink*

As mentioned in the comments, this does raise questions about the exclusivity angle when games like Gun Survivor 2 are already being developed for PS2, and the rumored multi-platform online RE4 (then again, Sony announced any online PS2 game would most likely have to run on a closed server and not interact with other consoles, maybe this was partially an influence in Capcom's decision?), so it's likely this line was perhaps mistranslated, or taken out of context, but... wow. But Capcom, not likely to put all its eggs in one basket... this means DMC is likely to stay PS2 only (and Onimushima is likely to move to Xbox and STAY on Xbox). Shoot... NO, Claire, I DON'T MEAN- *BANG*

[Edit: Rarrrg, brains... er... I mean... go here for the translated GPara article and Miyamoto pictures (if you come to a page that's white with only a little bit of text, and two gray buttons, click the one on the right). Planet Gamecube also have their own version of the translation. Basically, every major RE game is going to be remade and released on the GC, 0, 1, 2, 3, Code Veronica, and 4 will be released, the article mentions something about wanting to work directly on the Gamecube so the developers can focus on working toward advantages on just the platform, instead of a development format more fitting for a multi-console ported game. I'm DLing the movie for RE1, there's three sizes (of course I'm going for 640x480 ;D), but from the stills I've seen, the game looks absolutely fantastic, the details, textures, the lighting, it's no WONDER we haven't heard RE0 news for a while, they've been quietly working on this (the remakes will probably share resources to be constructed faster, some of the textures, engine parts, and such will likely be recycled, and they are already working from a mostly developed blueprint, but still it looks like it'll breath new life into these games, not just a fresh coat of paint).]

Subject: Gamecube Skinned: Reveals Gore; Ecco Flees from Undead System

...Hey, you tie all of these stories together. :D

Not much on the net right now, sites are just starting to update again after the publishing hietus most everyone went on, and now everyone is posting their "We must move on" message because they got the latest shots of Rogue Leader. (We know the sincerity from the media is honestly felt, however, just mentioning the trend.) All three of these stories I got from IGN (specifically IGNCube and IGNPS2), although I noticed they showed up on a few other websites (some directly quoting IGN as their source).

First off, Lik Sang, the ones who originally ripped apart a poor, defenseless GBA, has now viciously turned their sites to Gamecube. ;_; You can view the mindless horror here, but please, don't let the children see, set them in front of a television set instead- wait, that might not be a good idea...

Anyway, so far the rumored "switch" (phah, like Nintendo would put a blatant toggle switch inside a case that could be opened in ten seconds with a gamebit) is not to be seen, nor any Dips or easy toggles. Maybe someone will find it soon, but it's looking like the direct hardware mod for imports may not be as easy as hoped. However, I have my suspicions about those THREE ports on the bottom of the GC (I always remembered there being three ports mentioned in articles, am I correct in assuming the lower "row" is actually two seperate ports (hence two indents for the hook pieces to click in and be removed), the modem doesn't take up that entire like of space?), even if you had one for a modem and one for an accessory, there's still one left free for a plugmod...

But, on the subject of horror and Gamecube, apparently Resident Evil 0 is still being developed, but surprisingly, Resident Evil 1 is as well. The title's currently set for spring of 2002, and apparently the level of graphics is set to match, perhaps BEAT Devil May Cry. (Not that I don't want to see that on GC as well... ^_^;) The story will have some alterations in it (probably to correct a few hanging points and help push the direction they want the series to go in, although that's bound to frustrate a few fans... Gamplay elements (and I assume control) will also be changed and added to. Oh, and because Miyamoto realized one of the hunters wore and earring, all characters are now super deformed and badly "drawn", and shoot cork guns at zombie who bleed GREEN blood, because green blood is so much better than red blood. (Please, please don't hurt me, I'll be good, I swe- ACK! Help! Help! Miyamoto's got a blade to my Pikmin!)

Finally, one of the most difficult and under-appreciated games for the Dreamcast (no, I'm not talking about Sonic Shuffle... in this article...) will actually see a PS2 port. Shown at ECTS was none other than Ecco. The two shots provided in the IGNPS2 Article are not that impressive, perhaps they're from the DC version, but it's nice to see this game get a second chance. I'm a bit surprised at a PS2 release, but I suppose Appaloosa might be more comfortable with the architecture, or maybe they're going against the stereotype that this is necessary a GC type game and doesn't belong on PS2, just like people are yelling for games like Devil May Cry and such to make Gamecube appearances despite the stereotype it's a kiddy system. Still, if the Sega plan holds true, this is likely a game that, if it does decently, will see ports to other consoles.

Hey, q00ty, I'm in H's quotebar.. ((O o));

TL:...you weren't too lazy to type that whole disclaimer describing why you didn't type the y, when you could've just typed the y? Seems you're _anti_-lazy... Dark:Well,uhm...You see,I'm so lazy, that my lazyness reversed,so that I'm too lazy to type small things but not too lazy to type large things, and then you pour on some flour, add a few eggs, jump off a cliff, play SA2 for 5 hours straight, then slap yourself in the head with a mallet, and that's how spagghetti is made.=D

Ooh, I still have that list, but I just tossed it in my file cabinet the other day. I don't have time now, I'll dig it up for ya after I get home from school...

I went with Ventures Online, which is very similar to Liquidweb in terms of features, except they seem, er .. to put it bluntly ... less crappy. ;P

And one thing that was exceedingly odd to me - when I downloaded the entire site backup from Liquidweb and uploaded it to the new site, the new site's cpanel said I was only using about 30 megs, whereas when I emailed Liquidweb about uploading problems once, that 30 megs, somehow, someway, was 249 megs ... ((O_o)) Right...
