I don't know your family situation, but I do know your situation... I just took advantage of my parents enforced "What are you thankful for" moment at Thanksgiving, and brought up the girl that I fell in love with and now link to past insanity that evolved into my Jinnai fixation... err... this isn't going too good ;p

Not sure what you're gonna do. But I'll say, if you don't tell them before she gets there, and she is there, and then they ask "HOO SI TAHT!!?" she better at least be aware she is unknown, so that perhaps you can rather bluntly introduce the situation 
So either tell her or tell them... I know how nerve racking it is, but y'know, you'll probably save lots of trouble if you just take a deep breath, walk up to them, shut your eyes, look down, and just speak a whole paragraph without even thinking about it and see what their response is.
About all you can do to break nervous / shy brain-talk freezes.

Um, well, for one thing, you should definitely tell them before she arrives. They'll appreciate it if you clue them in on what's going on. They won't be so forgiving if you take the 'wait until it's too late and spring it on them' approach.
I had even considered the latter approach way back before I told folks at home about Sarah. Of course, it would've had no chance of working. ;P
It was really, really difficult for me when I first told mom about Sarah. I think it was around December or January when I did. Paying mind to the fact that we got together last July. So, yeah, that was a pretty big gap there. But it was really for the best that I told her. I mean, if I hadn't, then Sarah never would have spent that week up here last April and everything, and the whole situation would feel a lot more... repressed, somehow. Not good.
Just do it, as hard as it may be. It'll be a load off everyone's back.

anyways, i told my Mom. it was a lot easier telling her, becuase she guessed that's what i was trying to say. i neer woulda been able to say it with my own words. >_O

Yeah that beats mine when I did this act of foolishness (August - April)
An act of foolishness because all a long distance relationship produces is pain, stress, and a hope for a future that seems infinitely far away.
And then you work that hard and she backstabs you, your world falls apart, you go nuts for a while where you hate everyone, punch paper crates, and then yell at the kind 25 year old woman manager ... who's always been your friend ... calling her a ... phony ...
