Conference Travel Sponsorship 2005
Google India R&D Centre (Bangalore) is pleased to announce a grant for travel to academic conferences. We will fund faculty members and students in Indian universities to attend leading international conferences in Computer Science.

To qualify for sponsorship, the applicant needs to have a full paper in the research track of one of the seven conferences listed here, and also be the official presenter of this work at the conference.
 
 Allowance
 
Rs. 1.25 lakh (USD 3,000) per presenter, to cover travel, registration, visa, hotel and food. Google India will provide administrative help to make bookings and pay for the registration directly.

The Conference Travel Sponsorship 2005 offered to students and faculty members for attending specified international academic conferences is subject to the terms and conditions set out here.

Eligibility

(i) The grant is available for candidates who are either students or faculty members in any Indian university, college or other educational institution.

(ii) Candidates must have a full paper in the research track of any of the seven conferences listed below and should be responsible for presenting the paper:
  • WWW 2005: 14th International World Wide Web Conference, May 10-14, 2005, in Chiba, Japan.
  • SIGMOD 2005: 24th ACM Conference on Management of Data, June 14-16, 2005 in Baltimore, USA.
  • ACL 2005: Association of Computational Linguistics, 43rd Annual Meeting, June 25-30, 2005, Ann Arbor, USA.
  • ICML 2005: 22nd International Conference on Machine Learning, August 7-11, 2005 in Bonn, Germany.
  • SIGIR 2005: ACM Conference on Research and Development in Information Retrieval, August 15-19, 2005, in Salvador, Bahia, Brazil.
  • OOPSLA 2005: 20th ACM Conference on Object-Oriented Programming, Systems, Languages & Applications, October 16-20, 2005 in San Diego, USA.
  • SOSP 2005: 20th ACM Symposium on Operating Systems Principles, October 23-25, 2005, in Brighton, United Kingdom.
(iii) Candidates are eligible to receive multiple grants for attending more than one of above conferences.

Nature of grant

The grant is intended for presenters who would be unable, without financial assistance, to make a presentation at the conference.

Each individual grant would cover expenses of travel, registration, visa, hotel and food to the extent of Rs. 1.25 lakh (USD 3,000 approximately).

Google will provide administrative help to make bookings and pay for the registration directly.

Google shall not bear the costs of any additional expenditure that may be incurred by the presenter.

Terms of grant

This grant should not be held in conjunction with grants/ awards from any other sources of funding such as companies, organizations, firms, etc.

Google reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to select candidates for grant of the sponsorship and all decisions taken by Google in this regard shall be final, binding and conclusive.

The recipient of the award shall be required to represent and warrant to Google that the information supplied by him/ her to Google is complete, true and accurate in all respects. The recipient further agrees that he shall be liable for any loss that may be suffered by Google for the willful supply of any incomplete or inaccurate information or for any misrepresentation on the part of the recipient.

Google shall be entitled to modify the terms and conditions of grant of the sponsorship at any time as it may deem fit.

The recipient of a grant agrees to hold harmless Google, its affiliates, subsidiaries, and all of its directors, officers, employees, representatives and agents, from and against any and all liability for any loss, property damage or damage to person, including without limitation, death and injury, due in whole or in part, directly or indirectly, from or arising out of grant of the sponsorship, or participation in the conference, or any such related activity. Google specifically disclaims all liability associated with, and makes no warranties with regard to, any grant/ sponsorship given.
