Strategic Negotiator, Global

This position is available in Mountain View, CA.
Google is looking for individuals who have extensive experience and remarkable
skills in technical negotiation and business development to join the
technical infrastructure negotiation team. This team is responsible for
strategy, selection, negotiation, and execution of contracts with strategic
vendors supplying services related to Google's global infrastructure.
Individuals in this role will be responsible for working with internal
technical and business teams as well as senior management to identify
and define new projects and initiatives necessary to meet Google's ongoing
needs for both expansion and cost reduction; will work closely with both
existing and new vendors to identify highly cost effective conventional
or out-of-the-box solutions for these initiatives; will negotiate with
vendors and/or service providers for the most favorable commercial and
technical terms possible; and will work with the legal and technical
teams to negotiate and execute contracts for these mission critical services.
These individuals will be expected to communicate progress on projects
to both internal and external stakeholders, will have a passion for cost
reduction and highly cost efficient solutions, and should be able to
think outside of the box to find creative solutions to complicated negotiation
challenges.
Google is looking for Strategic Negotiator candidates with experience
in one or more of the following areas:
- Negotiations for collocation space in conventional data centers;
for racks, power circuits, cross connects, and remote hands services
in conventional data centers; and for wholesale transactions with conventional
data centers in North America, Europe, Asia, and Latin America.
- Negotiation and purchasing of IP transit services in North America,
Europe, Asia, and/or Latin America; negotiation of partnerships with
Internet exchanges, regional peering providers, and paid peering arrangements
with major carriers.
- Identification, selection, and negotiation of dark fiber contracts
both in metropolitan areas and over long distances as part of development
of a global backbone network; contracts and negotiation for managed
metropolitan services and long haul wavelength services to fulfill
capacity and redundancy requirements in North America, Latin America,
Asia, and Europe.
- Identification and negotiation of contracts related to leases or
purchases of data centers facilities and/or properties capable of conversion
to data center purposes; experience with evaluating and assessing potential
data center facilities for acquisition; experience negotiating startup,
service, and maintenance contracts for data centers; experience obtaining
data center infrastructure hardware including chillers, generators,
UPS systems, transformers, power distribution units, etc.
Requirements:
- At least five years experience with strategic negotiations and/or
business development in obtaining services from high technology providers
in collocation, data center, network transit, network transport, or
IT services; extensive experience with contract negotiation and vendor
management with multiple vendors.
- Excellent organization skills, a high attention to detail, a passion
for negotiating the best possible deals given technical and business
constraints, an ability to think creatively (and encourage others to
think creatively) about alternative solutions.
- An undergraduate degree preferably in a technical discipline.
- Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal), the ability
to juggle multiple competing priorities simultaneously, and boundless
enthusiasm and tenacity.

Project Manager, Technical Negotiations
This position is available in Mountain View, CA.
Google has an immediate opening for a seasoned technical project manager
to plan, facilitate, and manage the deployment of new services purchased
from third party suppliers and vendors. This individual will work closely
with the technical negotiation team to understand the terms of new contracts
and arrangements including delivery targets and technical requirements;
with internal project management teams to communicate target completion
dates and ensure that all internal requirements are being met in a timely
manner; with external vendors to gather and enforce schedules for installation
of services; and with internal technical teams to ensure that all services
meet with their technical and service requirements. This person will
have overall responsibility for ensuring that services are delivered
correct, cost effectively, and on schedule and for facilitating communications
between all relevant stakeholders both internal and external.
Requirements:
- An undergraduate degree in a technical discipline.
- A minimum of three years technical project management experience
in a technology company with planning and managing deployment of new
third party services in the collocation or network spaces.
- A very good understanding of the technology behind data centers;
network transit, transport, and peering; and technical operations is
strongly preferred.
- Excellent organization skills, project tracking abilities, communications
skills (both verbal and written); strong focus and attention to detail;
the ability to work in a very fast-paced, hectic, and energetic environment.
- Excellent Internet and computing skills.
- A great attitude and willingness and ability to work within and
between groups smoothly.
