(spoiler) You know that little area where that little white thing moves across? You'll have to get under there and get inside one of the eggs. I forgot which ones they were, but if you go back to the Save Room with all the computers they're the "abnormal" eggs."
EDIT: Because tags need to be typed correctly in order to work.

This game style would complete rock hardcore if someone edited all the sprites, and did some re codding. Make it MCish.
I might look into it or we could develope a team if it's possible.
Edit: Ok, so you can't equip anything like that charm, and use the map?

(spoiler) Ah, I got it now. I just got to Grasstown and beat Balrog AKA Teh ebil baggage for the second time. I don't see how anyone found him hard. Then again, maybe they don't have all of their weapons up to level 3 yet.
Edit 2: (spoiler) Never mind. Save the robot. |

(spoiler) Nope, go back into the power room, and after defeating Balrog for the second time, examine the crushed robot and pull him out of the floor. You'll be told what to do next. Be sure to check back at Sue's brother afterward.

If you have any other trouble on where to go, my original post about the game contains a link to a Cave Story FAQ.

(spoiler) Yep. When you see Dr. Booster drop down in the Labyrinth part, ignore him completely, and lay off on obtaining the booster v0.8. This way, he can use it himself to escape and give you the MUCH BETTER finished version (2.0) later on.
It will have a bit more "fuel", and will allow you to fly both up and sideways.
Next up, after the shutter opening part when you're in the room with Curly, DON'T talk to her, first, go to the bottom right of the room, where you can find a tow cable to bring her along when the room has flooded.
For further info on saving her, I direct you to the FAQ, 'cause it's quite a large sidequest with a massive payoff in the form of a secret dungeon, the clearing of which will most likely yield the best ending of all.
Also, some more hints...
-The Polar Star can be traded for three weapons total.
*The Machine Gun, at Curly Brace. The most popular option, this weapon is indeed a useful option, as this weapon, as you'll know, will allow you to rapidfire, and hover when it's level 3.
*The Snake, by Chaba at the store in the Labyrinth. He'll merge both your Polar Star and your Fireball, and create Snake, a weapon that deals out decent damage, and it can shoot straight through walls - a rather useful feature.
*The Spur, at the Gun Hermit. After having claimed the Booster v2.0, fly up in Mimiga village, and find the door high up in the ceiling. Backtrack through the first "dungeon" you've been in, and hand over the Polar Star to the hermit. He'll throw a fit, telling you you shouldn't have stolen his gun. You hand it over, and he'll notice the wear and tear on it, getting touched by the fact that his creation was able to deal out such punishment without even being finished. He'll then give you back the gun.... after he finished it.
The Spur is... awesome. First of all, its Lv1 shots are equal to a Lv3 Polar Star shot.
Also, it doesn't level up the conventional way.
Hold down the fire button, and it'll charge up, releasing a laser of varying strength depending how quick you let go.
On Max Charge, this baby discharges a wide beam, capable of dealing around 50 to 80 damage on a direct hit, rivaling even the Lv3 missile in both velocity and power!
Still, the missle is best for quick-tapping nice rapid rounds of explosive damage.
Another hint.... DO NOT use the health pot anywhere until you're gonna make your way through the HELLISH secret dungeon I mentioned before (it comes even after the very last boss).
You'll thank me when you're left at Ballos with a mere 5 HP or so.

Ooh, I'll need to see this and check if I can learn anything from it.
Believe you me though....
(spoiler) If you haven't saved Booster and Curly, you have not finished it BY FAR.

Just finished it. Boy it's an amazing game, nice characters and good storyline mixed brilliantly with cool platforming action and interesting mission objectives. Definitly something awesome(spoiler) but damn, I didn't know you could save Booster and Curly!.
It's amazing to think of the amount of time and effort, not to mention talent that went into this game, by pretty much one guy. Boy, I'd love to do something like that.
You know, this could easily be ported to the GBA and sold commercially, it's bound to be a hit.

From what I can tell, all the image files (in the data folder) are stored in what appears to be 16bit bmp format and then just given a pbm extention. I've tried editing them, but somehow the program is able to tell the difference between an original datafile and an edited one. Will probably give more attention tommorow.

Don't let the simplistic sprites fool you, this game is much too INTENSE for a GBA. The graphical effects and number of sprites on screen at any one time would kill it.

Man, this game offers a good challenge but you know what? I've about had it with playing with the keyboard. The real final boss looks so damn awesome and hard as hell. And to think, I can't even defeat the fake final boss yet.
Too bad there isn't a time clock for the entire game. This could beat the Metroid series in terms of speedruns.

Ha, okay, I've cracked how the image format works. The images are stored in 16 colour bmp format (only it is given a pbm file extention to distract you) so it can be opened and edited any any image editor including MSpaint. The images can then be resaved in any sort of bmp format (16 colour, 256 colour, 24bit) as long as it obays 2 conditions:
Firstly, it must have the extention *.pbm. This is as easy as renaming the file with the changed extention once you have saved the bmp.
Secondly, the end of the raw binary of the file MUST end with the equivalent ascii of (without quotes) "(C)Pixel". You can hexedit the file and add that onto the end of it, or open in notepad and paste that onto the end of the file (although if you do that, you'll still need a hex editor, this time to replace all the "20" with "00" hence rectifying a change that occured while saving the text file).
The result? You can pretty much change any image file in the game that you want to. And as an example of this: http://homepage.eircom.net/~theflyingfox/myChar.pbm (download, and put into the data folder [which is in the same folder as Doukutsu.exe]. You may want to backup the myChar.pbm that you'll be replacing so you can undo the changes. Once you've done this, just start the game and see for yourself)

Hey, did anyone find any of the hidden "easter egg" items yet?
Here's some hints...
Chaco, the colored Mimiga in Grasstown, doesn't mind having someone over to spend the night...
Take a look at your map in the bedroom at the Sand Zone pub.
