From gamefront.de:
| Quote: | | First information to Guardian Heroes Advance 15.04.04 - With the Guardian Heroes Advance developed by Treasure is to concern it around no Remake of the Saturn original, but a successor and an original development. Also the heroes would have changed. The confirmed a dealer, who saw the title in playable form on a Sega presentation in Japan. Release: 16.09.04 (Japan). |
Sega...Treasure...first ever true Treasure sequel....to the almost sexual Saturn beat-em up?
All of you will buy copies of this game, even if you do not own a GBA. Then we ask for a Gunstar Heroes sequel, and my testicles will explode with pure unbridled happyness.

Not everything...*cough*Buster'sBadDream*cough*
But, I am interested in this Guardian Heroes sequel even though I would have liked it more if it was a console release instead of a handheld game. I did enjoy the original game for the Saturn which is a shame that I was able to afford to actually own it at the time.

Glad I found my copy of Guardian Heroes at the Bargain Bins of Media Play long ago. *is quickly zapped by everyone who doesn't have the game*
Anyways, saw the blurb about this at IC, I know I'm definitely interested in this and will gladly do any means to get a game to the aforementioned "almost sexual Saturn beat-em up". I always had questions about that Robot that you had to fight against (the humanoid one that was with that wizard dude), as he looked like the last boss from Gunstar Heroes and if there was any connection between the two games as far as that went.
Man am I just so...eeeeeeeeeee right now!

They have intended on making sequels before, though, but only if they had the original development team on board. The post that had the Treasure head stating that was wiped and lost from the Shmups board, though, sorry.

toolboi came out of the closet to say:
In heaven Troika would write the dialog for this game, Black Isle (or maybe Obsidian now) would write the story, Crytek would code the engine, Valve would design the levels, Epic would make the models, Shiny would do the art direction, and everything would be run by Bethesda.

No "connection", but he is a direct reference.
But wow, a sequel? And designed to use the GBA directly to the fullest. Ooooh. It sounds almost too good to be true, because a port would be more reasonable and cheaper, and all of the news I've heard so far just echoed that this is a port of the Saturn game, but if that's true... hooray. And it also hints at potentially wonderful things for the Gunstar Heroes franchise... *drool* |

God I love Guardian Heroes. I almost always select Ginjirou in it, mostly due to the fact that he looks so much like Green. He's also a very good button mashing character to play with. :p There was also the fact that you were able to play as Golden Silver in the Vs. mode, which was quite orgasmic.
Anyway, I'm very excited about this news. I was actually expecting Gunstar Heroes to be ported over to the GBA before anything else..but a sequel to Guardian Heroes, that caught me off guard. o.o Especially with that release date. And like Kulock said:

That's the thing, though, as Eyrd mentioned -- it was the prospect of a Gunstar Sequel that had Treasure speak up and say "We'll only do sequels if we have all the original members of the team" -- the Gunstar staff has been split up all over the place, so chances are, it's gonna stay at rest on the Genesis.

That's not what you are supposed to do at a message board. You're supposed to create a new topic if you want to say that you're new. We may not always stay on topic, but jumping way off topic like that isn't something that's a good idea to do on message boards.

Gunstar Heroes was an incredibly Jizz Worthy game which I love oh-so much. I never got round to playing Guardian Heroes as I never possessed a Saturn, but anything related to Gunstar Heroes is worth buying.

It's still fun to play as Randy's Rabbit sidekick and team up with bunch of villagers against something like the Gods or a Silver or Golden Warrior. It's random battles like that made the Vs. mode so much fun and added replay value. Especially with up to 6 players! I wonder if this will be a really sequel or the same universe with differenct characters with some relation with the original characters (seeing as how not too many still have a Saturn around or even played the first game to begin with!).

Speaking of sequel continuity, Ikaruga was indeed the plotwise sequel to Radiant Silvergun -- (spoiler) the big yellow stone in both games basically destroyed and/or manipulated (in the case of the Horai of Ikaruga and the "enemies" of RS) most life when activated, and it would happen again and again when it was found, as seen with the little robot thing in the introduction (where one was found dead) and ending of RS (where the active one BECOMES dead). In Ikaruga, Shinra and Kagari decide to destroy it, because they figured that that kind of power could destroy the planet (not explicitly said) The AIs in their ships agree. (although warning them that the ships would explode if they retaliated against the stone) and the cycle of the planet being wiped of life ends. (again, not explicitly said.)
Not like anyone cares about the story to Ikaruga or anything....
