Look, I didn't lie to you, most of my projects are either under cosmetic redesign, or early engine test, and I doubt you want pictures of a mostly-white screen except for a Crackers sprite standing below a picture which makes no sense. ;> *Ahem* *Ku goes into cheesy advert mode* Over the hood, through the streets, and right into your braaaain! This is your number one pirate radio station, Jet Sonic Radio! DJ V will be spinnin' the vinyls as you clean up Eggman's mess and reclaim the zones! Yeah! ...Please don't judge me for that, I just made it up sitting here. ;> I don't have ANY of the fluff ready yet. But obviously, you can tell what the project's gonna be: Jet Set/Grind Radio in MMF, with Sonic characters. Since playing the game for the first time (imported a rental before American release), I always thought Sonic would've made a great character. Not just because "Oh, I'm a Sonic fan so I want him in everything." No, I thought Sonic would really fit in the environment (and it seems like Sonic Team agreed, considering Sonic's moves in SA2... the grind, anyone?). I could imagine him dashing through the environments, tagging, and being chased by Eggman's forces. So here we go. List of features? Like I've said, still in early testing stage, but I will tell you what I _do_ have done: tag importing. And it's better than Jet Set Radio, you can import GIFs (with transparency), JPGs, BMPs, PCXs, a whole range of image formats. Obviously, they'll be limits on the size (probably resized at runtime, meaning if you load a huge BMP, it will still be a hit on your CPU even if shrunk to the correct size, so I suggest you optimize your images for tags still, especially if you have a weak computer ;>). But the engine will save your tag selections for later use, so you don't have to reset them every game. I've also got a running idea of how to get multiple levels working (I.E. You can skate on a seperate level above another play area), now, mind you, saying it is one thing, doing it is another, but, you know what they say, "I can't see why this wouldn't work..." Basic planned details, you start with Sonic, and four others playable ally with you (TKA obviously, the fifth's a secret). There will also be one or two NPC skaters (non-playable) in the game (not counting bosses). For levels, Speed Highway will be in the upcoming demo, I think (however, that's not set in stone). I plan to run through some original zones and zone-styles, some familiar. I'll also have story-related areas, including Eggman deciding to take out one of the main things keeping the skaters together... Plus, I'm still mad about that Devil's Contract thing. >:D Unfortunately, it's obvious (and will be a bit more on Wednesday) that I'm not as talented as others at making specialty sprites (I try, but have trouble keeping a stylized "look"), so after I release the demo (won't be for a while), I'm going to seek help with the sprites and maybe some promo artwork (probably an image per major character, about 7). I'm not seeking the help yet, though, since JSR's back behind a few things, but I suppose this is an early warning. ^_^ So, that's the page on JSR. JSR's back behind a few things (though not at all dead), so don't expect me to be updating tommorow with new information on it or anything. O_o For one Moogle, I've got enough stuff running as it is... -Kulock Last Updated: 5/16/01 |
