The Hoaxes
Please Read:

I've still received a small stream of hoaxes since my several notices I would not be reposting them for a while, it was not my intention to "shut down" this section for almost a year and a half (I was still accepting hoaxes past the last update, but didn't add them, they'd be too difficult to move over to this new PC, and many people would want me to trash them by now, anyway, because their skills have improved), but unfortunately every time I turned around, a lead on doing _something_ to automate these sections to get it off of my hands had some problem. At first I was farming around for people to write the CGI or mod it from other CGI apps. I then tried converting over several picture indexing programs (some wouldn't work, others required large quantities of money for a poorly-written CGI program that I'd need to modify ;P). Right now our best "hope" (I don't want to pressure him that much) lay in an individual who's promised to work on a PHP/MySQL version which should handle the necessary functions: Uploading hoaxes, adding descriptions, Moderation, et cetera. If that doesn't pan out, I'll probably just close down the hoax section for pretty much good. (Please don't send me e-mails saying "No! We must save the hoaxes!" If I can't get it working by this last attempt, there's no point anymore in beating the dead horse, I'm out of ideas (and energy spent searching for solutions and working on them) unless I just lease out space and have no connection whatsoever to the section. And that means someone ELSE has to manually code it.)

If the PHP/MySQL project does pan out, it won't be for several more months, probably. Nothing I can do about it, and there's no guarantee it'll be completed at all, this person is doing it for free as a favor, which is nice, but that means it also takes low precidence compared to other things like classwork, et cetera. In the meantime, if you want to have your hoaxes posted, I strongly suggest you visit Sonic Vegemite, located at http://come.to/SonicV. (I've been steering hoaxers there for a while now since the lock-down, my plan is to so bog him down with hoax updates that he goes bonkers and I can knick all his Vegemite. Even though I've never had Vegemite and I doubt I like it.) But that site is one of the largest currently-running hoax archives around, so try them out.

But, really, don't expect this page to change. Frankly, ever. I'll update it enough to clean it up when I truly lock-down this section for archival purposes, but the new hoax archive will be in a different location, so really, don't keep checking this page and asking when I'll update it, because I won't, and I won't add your hoaxes manually because then others would complain I didn't add their's, and thus defeating the reason I had to lock it down in the first place, so don't bother asking, I'm sorry. This isn't the end of MC hoaxes, not yet, but you're going to have to do quite a lot more waiting.

BTW, for all people wishing to submit new hoaxes, from now on it is mandatory to read and follow the Hoax FAQ. This document now outlines many of the rules and procedures of submitting, and I do expect you to know them when you submit. However, If you have a question which isn't addressed in it, please let me know, and I will answer it to the best of my ability. Obviously, you may skip the "how to make a hoax" section if you feel your skills are proficient, but the rest are the rules, pure and simple. But don't worry, not much has changed, I just needed to write them out for referral, so please don't be scared away from submitting. ^_^ Just follow the general rules, and it'll flow much more smoothly. ^_^
