Too dependant. If you're on DSL, most likely you're outgoing bandwidth is cut-off at something like 128K (unless you have SDSL, which makes you a rich bas*-kid), and by assuming that Kulock used up an actually massive amount of bandwidth in only half a month suggests that your little home server deal would screw you to the point you could only browse the internet at 2400baud modem speed. (What happens to me if I don't lock-down on big files)

If you have cable, then your speed is irregular, possibly to the point of inconvience. Other then that, if you're caught, most services will tell you to get out and cut you off, and wouldn't THAT be dramatic (and difficult to explain if you're not the one paying for the service)

Either way, Moogle Cavern is just too big to be hosted on less then maybe SDSL (any DSL's okay for servering because it's a personal bandwidth line, it's just cut low probably to prevent you from really suceeding with such ;p), most likely you'd need a T1, and few of us have THAT running into the house. And home internet services with dynamic IP's are a plain inconvience. (Though managable, still inconvient when they spontaneously switch)

No: The soloution is simple. Use the geocities.txt trick for all image files. Geocities does not block remote linking after the bandwidth is exceeded (I think). Kill the "no avatar" hack and your bandwidth will be redused to a tolerable level.

My ISP DOES know, in fact they upped my cap slightly to 3.5mbps and All they say about running servers are is that they aren't responseable for the machines that personal servers are ran on

Squiggles: It's not that simple, believe me. Although every idea or bit of help that could help the bandwidth problems would probably be appreciated... and they all _might_ add up to actually help us out here. But just one thing won't fix the whole problem, when the bandwidth is running out at only 2/3rds the way through the month, or less time.

- Can't afford broadband
- Not available in area

Oh, and Attbi kinda sucks; I have it, and at least that's my opinion. It's better than dialup and Ameritech DSL, though. Sadly.

Hey, even 56K isn't the slowest connection around - it could be worse. o.o
56K is actually somewhat decent speed, but it's useless to host anything with.
