CAR GET!
Yes that's right, I FINALLY got a car to call my (almost) own!
A 1985 Chevrolet Cavalier station wagon, aka Rust Lump.
If you can't guess from the picture, I now drive the poster child for all beaters. And ah, I love listing the plethora of problems this car contains. (alliteration-y goodness!)
- Broken Radio (It'll go out of tune for no reason and you have to hit the dashboard for it to go back [classic ;D])
-The power steering is going, so it sticks when you go into turns
-The driver seat isn't bolted down on the front left corner, I can feel it ;p
-The passenger seat slides all the way foreward when you stop fast enough
-Theres some sort of hole in the floor, I can feel air blowing on my foot
- The left turn signal is broken. When you put it down, it stays steady on
- The cabin smells like gasoline when you turn on the heat
-The door has rusted away from under the trim, so when you drive fast enough, the trim beats up against the side of the door, making a nifty sound.
- The inside light is broken, and the dash light is so dim, you can barely read the speedometer at night
- The speedometer is probably broken. One day we were coming home on the highway going what my speedometer said was 5 MPH over the limit, and we passed a Toyota Supra like it was standing still.
-There's a broken seal in the engine mixing the gas and the oil (it doesn't smoke or anything)
It's got "character" ;v
So anyway... Yay for me!

Not a hole in the floor, it's a hole in the bottom of the dash, and that air's coming in straight from the engine.

Actually, Yajerobics, I'm saving the name "Road Humping Jive-Mobile" for my van I'll have in a couple o' months (provided I get a job like... now =/ )

And I thought my famlie's old 198something Ford Aerostar, was bad. But at least you proabably won't be going on 8 hour trips, like our family has to, since I licve in the middle of nowehre.

Exactly, I knew about the Jivemobile idea. =P
Give this car a red paintjob, fix it up a little where possible, chop the roof, (Convertible!) and you got the Pimpmobile. =E
Now you just need a big purple feathered hat.

Yes, Nero, all cars do. Just pull the emergency brake when you're driving down the highway, and it'll transform into a deathtrap. ;D
Well, at least it isn't a Pontiac Phoenix. That much can be said. (My sister has had to drive two in her life, and I've ridden in them. Those cars don't become damaged, I think they start OUT damaged. :P) Otherwise, it's very... uhmn... rusty.

Hey!
My first car was a 1980 Phoenix... it was a pile of junk, too. I kicked the fender every time I stopped for gas. :) It was quite caved in by the time I junked it.
I also had my first (and only!) accident with that car. I rear-ended a Ford Torus when she stopped short at a yellow light. My car ended up 1 1/2" shorter, she had some cracked plastic and a paint chip no the rear bumper. Yeash.
After straightening the frame, wiring in new headlights (literally, there was no place to mount them anymore), cutting the mangled hood latch off and securing the hood to the bumper with a peice of rope, I drove it the rest of that summer. :E
Thanks to that accident, I was lucky enough to get this as a gift. Cost me $10 to get the title put in my name. Good deal, that.
The moral: Don't worry if your first car looks like crap. First cars are disposable. Eventually you'll get something worth taking care of.
A 1985 Chevrolet Cavalier station wagon is not what most people would consider a car worth taking care of... especially in that condition. Hope you didn't pay too much for it.

Actually I got it for free ;p
It used to be the car my mom drove to work everyday, but we got a 94 Lumina, so she started using the Honda, and gave the Rust-Lump to me ;p
