I believe that is incorrect. If I am not mistaken, the first video game was created a few years before that, and was a 2-Player game. The controls were, up, down, left, right, and shoot. The players competed to blow up the other's ship. Shots that went off the screen disappeared. Ships however, would reenter on the opposite side (like Pac-Man). The ships wer identical, and a starfield was drawn in the background. The stars however, were merely randomly-placed pixils.

First game was called Spacewar. IIRC, its display was an oscilloscope or something along those lines.
