Don't go for it Goemon, the September that sucked.
Microsoft-Rare, Square-Dell-Nvidia, Infogrames reduceing staff, and now this. Konami now is listed on the New York Stock Exchange, after being delisted from the Osaka Stock Exchange earlier this month.
So why is this so bad? Well, those who have been following the career of Goemon, and, therefore Konami, have seen its recent downfall. "Welcoming in a New Age" and the other games featureing the new character design, have not only sucked, they haven't been real Gopemon games. Followers of the Japanese videogame market will also connect this with the recent fall of Konami in Japan (and the delisting from Osaka Stock Exchange).
This is the final kick in the bucket. Konami has changed. No longer is it run by the fun-loving, America-hating, programmers. It is now fun by clueless marketeers who see America as the greatest thing since the discovery of the orgasm (explaining "Welcoming in a New Age"). Konami has never been tops in America, but the change of policy has had a falling out with the Japanese fans.
Listing Konami on the NYSE is the ultimate act showing how the company has changed. They are now appealing to the Americans who the once hated. No longer will we get the quirky, strange anti-American, Portugese, and for all intent and purposes, western-world propaganda that makes little sence and carries messages above everyone's heads. If the company survives much longer, it will not be the same. In the future, when people try to analyze where the company changed, this will be the last symbolic action blamed.

I think it's because they're always churning out arcade to console ports, making games for the weakest console of the 128 bit generation that doesnt help the company =/
And if they truly hated america, we SURELY wouldnt be getting any games in America...

Hay, the programmers hate America. I never said the managers did. They just made sure to do a poor job translating so that the games didn't come off so anti-western ("Not that GANG doing UNSPEAKABE EVILS!"). ANd veing that Goemon is the main income-getter for Konami, and the recent games haven't sold well, because they suck, the company's going down the tubes.

Re: Don't go for it Goemon, the September that sucked.
So as long as ancient, pointless hatred exists, the world is a better place?
I personally think it's great that the Japanese are getting over such things. Not that I'm saying Americans really are the greatest thing (personally, I'm becoming loyal to no faction of humanity other then the ones that revolve directly around me, and most of them are fantasy ;p) ... but hatred only leads to fear and violence, willingness to destroy. There's nothing great about hatred in any direction, from warfare to video game design.
So, Goemon's going down. He had his glory days, and perhaps that's all you should vouch for.

Konami sucked in the first place. (Aside from Goemon, but that now sucks too.)
Now all they have is Castlevania..

Re: :/
I'm bumping this because I think it's not about racism it's about not letting the americans try and change their traditions. I don't care if I'm a round-eye peach dancing devil. Goemon was cool because it voiced the programmers true opinions which aren't so racist that I hate them. Now if it was a KKK game I wouldn't say they should voice their opinions because they should keep their games to themselves.

Yeah, it's not a bad hate, it's a political, civil hate. Besides, it's funny.

Re: :/
Where is some of this Anti-American stuff in their games anyways? Never seen much of it. They did take away the health bar in the USA versions of Contra, I hate them for that.

Re: :/

A harmless American who has converted to the truth that is Shinto. Wait, is he taking advantage of the religion by over-exploiting the citizens? NO! For he is not selling anything at all! He is:

Magginesu! Yes this harmless lesser priest is none other than Magginesu, the conquorer from America who has come over in his flying battleship full of bunny-men to (dare I sat it) westernize Japan! *gasp!*
And that's just one example.

Re: :/
What would make them think we want to westernize them? I mean, all we did was come in and force them to use capitalism and crammed religion they did not believe in down their throat. I mean, it's not like nuking them was enough payback. They have to believe what we believe. Is that really so bad? *shot*
Yes. Yes it is.
Anyway, back on topic.
I actually liked New Age...sure, it was not the Goemon we know, but it was fun, nonetheless.
