Custom PDA WebSearch
Google's Custom PDA WebSearch service provides access
to its world-class, award-winning web
search services directly from users' PDAs. The easy-to-use technology
automatically breaks up the search results into several smaller pages,
connected by "more" buttons. This means PDA users can access
web pages using lower bandwidth, increasing peformance.
Custom PDA WebSearch Features
Hosted
solution
|
Google offers
a hosted solution that allows your visitors to conduct web and specialty
searches on your site, with the results provided within your own template.
Results are available via HTTP and can be formatted in XML. |
Unique
search algorithm |
Google's PageRank
technology is the heart of our search technology. It evaluates
the complex link structure of the web to determine which results are
most relevant to your user's query. |
Customizable
interface |
You can easily
customize the look and feel so that your site's search results have
a unique appearance. Change the font, the colors, or any aspect of
the formatting--you have complete control. Partners can also serve
advertising on the custom pages. |
Snippets |
Results listings
show dynamically generated fragments of text from each web site found
that include the search text optimized for the PDA. This helps users
better predict if that result will answer their question. |
Targeted
advertising |
With Google's
Custom PDA WebSearch, you can sell your own keyword advertising. For
example, you could sell a florist ad on pages returned when your users
search for "flowers". |
Similar
pages |
For each result,
users are able to use Google's similar pages technology to find other
pages related to that page. Partners can re-brand this feature as
they see appropriate. |
Regular
index updates |
All PDA WebSearch
licensees receive index updates on a regular basis to ensure fresh
content. |
Growing
index |
Google searches
over more than a billion pages, the largest search index on the web.
And Google's index is continuously scrubbed to eliminate duplicate
URLs and links that no longer exist. |
Advanced
search |
Users can narrow
their search to a specific domain/subdomain or search for results
in a specific language. Google also supports OR, phrase searching
if quotations are used and Google can exclude key words returned in
the result set. |
Detailed
reporting |
Google offers
reports on daily number of queries, top queries, top keywords searched,
and other information. |
Service
and support |
We offer technical
support 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. |
Custom PDA WebSearch Add-on Options
SafeSearch
filtering |
Google's family
filter eliminates search results with inappropriate content. Google
offers two versions of this filter: Regular SafeSearch and Strong
SafeSearch. Strong SafeSearch blocks a larger set of URLs and applies
a stricter interpretation of inappropriate material. To see an implementation
of regular SafeSearch, set your preferences on the Google.com website.
|
Foreign
language restricted search results |
Offer your users
search results in the languages of your choice: Chinese (Simplified)
- Chinese (Traditional) - Czech - Danish - Dutch - English - Estonian
- Finnish - French - German - Greek - Hebrew - Hungarian - Icelandic
- Italian - Japanese - Korean - Latvian - Lithuanian - Norwegian -
Polish - Portuguese - Romanian - Russian - Spanish - Swedish |
Specialty
searches or vertical searches |
With Google,
you can quickly and easily create different slices of your index for
your different users. (Including search: by specific language, by
country domain, by topic, by customized URLs submitted to Google.)
Google can create a search in a specific vertical area (e.g., computers
or travel) without a list of specific URLs. This option makes it easier
to ensure your customers only see results related to the topic of
your website. |
Current Customer List
Google currently licenses its WebSearch to over 130 different
partners. Specific PDA / pager customers include: Palm, Omnisky, Handspring,
and GoAmerica (RIM Pagers). For a more detailed list of customers, please
see our partner page.
PDA WebSearch Pricing
The pricing for Google's PDA WebSearch services is based
upon an upfront search service fee and a CPM (cost per thousand results
sets delivered). Additional customizations and add-on options are extra.
