General History |
1. What is the Moogle Cavern? |
The Moogle Cavern is my website.
|
Uhmn...more detail please. |
Oh, you want this FAQ to be _informative_ too? *G* The Moogle Cavern is my website, focusing on various interests of mine. It is in no way, shape, or form supported by any corporation, otherwise, it would be prettier. ^.^
|
a. Why is it called that? |
Originally, it was Kulock's Moogle Cavern. However, I dropped it to simply The Moogle Cavern. Basically, Kulock's a moogle, based off of fanfiction (don't worry, I'm not a self-insertion nut, I don't even write fanfic much at all ;>) by Tim Gim Yee (although I don't act much of anything like the fanfic incarnation annymore, I just use it mainly as an avatar, so I'm not even sure I can still say it's his character... O_o), and he lived in a cavern (Final Fantasy fans, it was Narshe). So calling the website that seemed the best idea at the time.
|
b. How long has it been around? |
That is a very tough question. _This_ revision of the Moogle Cavern has been around for over a year three years, but beforehand, at various times I would undergo various "spurts" of website creation, but stop for varying reasons.. Short attention span, and all that. *G* But with the Moogle Cavern, I finally sat down and constructed something a little more concrete. ^.^
|
c. What's the level of content usually on these pages? |
B- I'm afraid. Just kidding. Usually it sticks around somewhere between an American PG-13 and an English "15". I admit, I am over 18, and from time to time I may make a reference or post something that should be handled in a mature manner, but I will never post such a thing without proper warning first, and I doubt I would ever post something "just because it's hentai".
I must warn you that message boards and chat rooms associated with this site are a real-time environment, and although I and the moderators try to monitor the posts/messages as much as possible, it's possible a post might show up with above-standard content. This can't be helped, and will be dealt with ASAP in one way or another. Sometimes MBers just make mistakes, some just want to cause trouble. Just remember, if you think something is suspect, no one's making you click that thread or link. You don't have to just because it exists, so if you're worried, don't mess with it.
The Moogle Cavern takes no responsibility for content posted by its message board users, or if the main site, chat room, or message board are visited by someone against a parent or guardian's wishes. If a parent or guardian wishes to keep someone underage from seeing certain things, they cannot expect the entire Internet to monitor their children/wards for them, they must monitor their child's/ward's viewing habits. This web site makes no attempt to deceive people into visiting for a content level below the one suggested in this FAQ.

2. How do I get around the page? |
When I moved the Moogle Cavern, I decided to switch the main page to using comboboxes because they let the page be significantly less cluttered, yet storing the links I wanted. To work them, both on the main page and anywhere else, simply click on them to open, then click on the selection you wish. There's also a toolbar of the main sections at the bottom of nearly every page.
|
a. Help! I can see and click on the comboboxes, but it won't take me to the right section automatically. |
Your browser was considered "old" two years ago, so if you haven't updated by now, you're doomed. Get a Dreamcast or something, it'll beat your computer. @_@
|
b. I can't see comboboxes at all. What do I do now? |
You are apparently accessing the internet through two cups and a very long string. While I appreciate that you have learned to interpret modem signals simply by listening to them, I'm afraid I can't help you. Just pick through the source of the website for the URLs, or use the direct links I often provide.

3. What is each section like? |
I'm glad you asked that, me! I mean...er...FAQ..question...asker....ahem...
...Le Sigh... Er... "The Slayers" was one of the primary reasons I booted the MC into a solid form. It was one of the first sections, had a spiffy little intro, I wanted to make the MC, besides an RPGs page, one of the greatest Slayers pages on the 'net. ...Funny how things work out... The section remains as somewhat of a memorium (the television/movies aren't being produced anymore, so I've heard, only the manga remains, not that the movies/TV series weren't successful, they just decided to put an end to it instead of running it into the ground), as well as whatever interesting things I can find to shove in. But as long as there is a Moogle Cavern run by me, it's most likely going to have a Slayers section, even if it's tucked back in some tiny recess, buried under several pages of text and fluff, it'll be there, rest assured...
Originally this section was going to be the largest, now it's a little second third "I-haven't-got-a-clue-what-to-do-with-it" string. It's been a difficult section to fill since I couldn't participate in most Square RPGs, since I gave up on my PSX (it's not "dead", it just kept ruining the mood for FF7, my Sega Saturn skipped video maybe ONCE in it's entire life of use, my DC almost never... my PS, the second gen, supposedly the ones that didn't skip (which they later said about the third gen)... skips like a jackrabbit on speed, even with unblocked airvents...), and other RPGs would turn up in the Capcom or Sega areas. However, with the promise of the new GBA Square RPGs, and possibly some GC/Xbox work, I might get back into updating this section...
This section originally only included Mega Man, but was expanded. Fe-ric-ia made me do it. "Myaou!" Hard to update when Capcom of America KEEPS LEAVING THE SODDING MATCHING SERVICE TITLES IN JAPAN! *grumbles*
Originally added after the MC had already been started in a solid form, as a suggestion from someone, I reluctantly did, and started building on it first. It grew into probably "the" main attraction of people to the site. Going by the same construction schedule, with six other under-developed sections, the MC will be ready in about 15 years. ;D
Don't get confused by the name, this is the Nintendo section of the site. It started as an off-shoot of Miscellania, but I like Nintendo too much to keep it only half-way, so here we are. Expect to see goodies featuring Mario, Conker, Mr. Pants, Star Fox, and lots and lots of Smash Bros. Lots.
Oh... dear. Another section that seemed like a good idea. I haven't been drawn in to try the GB/GBC versions, but I don't wanna kill the section... I think the real deciding point will be if/when Nintendo releases a 3D version of the adventure. If that doesn't draw me into the gaming side of the series, I'll proably axe the section. If it does, then it'll be justified. ^_^
"Oh, no, where the heck should I stick this? ...Wait, I know!" (And the answer was not in a part of my anatomy, thank you very much.)
S(onic) S(eason) 3 was an attempt to animate a fan short based on the idea of a 3rd season for the "SatAM" Sonic cartoon. It fell through when myself and one other, neither interested in leading, were decided to be team leaders, and then that other being forced to leave for several months, dumping the person who originally only offered to do the website with the task of organizing the entire thing to a script he has disagreements with. Stagnated, kicked the bucket, what have you. Site remains for who-knows-how-long as an archive of the work, the ideas, et cetera.
Makes less sense now that Yahoo! took over Webring and made it terrible and difficult to manage, so now very few people use it. A shame, they were useful... (It still contains several links, of course...)

4. How can I link to you? |
*drops to his knees* Savior! ...er..I mean..ahem... I really don't mind any format, just as long as you post it, however, if you wish, I have a banner: (if you can make a better one, and feel very generous, let me know. ;>)
You can also grab what you want out of the MCLogos directory, although I'll have some more dedicated banners soon. There's no point in linking to the Come.to address anymore, so it's just http://www.mooglecavern.com/ . ^_^
|
5. Why don't you drop the other sections, and focus on *section*? |
Sorry, the Moogle Cavern stays whole. I know it sounds nuts, but remember, once several of these pages are finished, they won't require daily maintenance. I try to treat each section seperately, developing it as I need to. "Try" is the key word. :P A few things may get cut if they turn out poorly or I change my mind and decide against them, but usually if I go to the trouble to add a section, it stays.
|
6. Why do you sometimes take a week to update, other times only a day? (And sometimes a month...) |
Unfortunately, RL dictates this page. I don't always have a lot of time to do what I want (usually fiddling with the Cavern for long takes a chunk out of my sleep).
|
7. How long is a mile? |
5,280 feet. Next question.
|
8. I'm an extremely nice and generous fan with some free time/resources on my hands. Anything you need? |
*Grin* Yup. Posted soon on the Moogle Cavern will be a "request" page. Most of the time I need help with something, because I'm a naive little moogle who only pretends to understand matters. @.@ Don't worry, I'm not a nut, I don't expect you to spend your time for free, if you helped me with something fairly major/important, I'll usually try to help you with something you want, if it's in reason (please don't expect any miracles or anything illegal).
|
9. Why don't you have a message board or chat room? |
No real reason for this, I simply never thought it would be an interest. What would be unique about the Moogle Cavern board that would drag people in? And would it be used for "Moogle Cavern News and Discussion", or just, "Hey Joe!"? ^_^ Sure, if there was enough of a demand, and a good reason for it, I'll be glad to go to InsidetheWeb, register for one, and post it. I just don't see any real motivation to. (O_O;; Little did I know that the forum would grow and thrive and actually carry the MC for a while, and as of this edit has about 20,000 posts from nearly 500 users (admittingly, some are multiple usernames from the same person, but that's still an impressive number for something I thought less than two years ago would be a waste of time...)
|
10. Isn't it hard thinking of questions? |
Yes, me little noggin hurts. I had planned this FAQ to be longer, but when I sat down to type it this is all that came up (AGAIN! Gah! I know I'm missing things!), so invariably I've forgotten something. If you have any questions, e-mail me at moogle@iwaynet.net, and I'll try to answer your question to the best of my ability. (And if it's a good one, I'll post it here too, with your approval. ;>)
